rooms.i returned coke bottles for the five-cent deposits to buy food with and i would work the seven miles across the town every sunday night to get one good meal a week at the hare krishna temple.i loved it.and much of what i stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.let me give you one example.reed college at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country.throughout the campus every poster every label on every drawer was beautiful hand i have dropped out and didn t have to take the normal classes.i decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this.i learned about serif and san-serif typefaces about varying the amount of space between different letter binations, about what makes great typography was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can t capture, and i found
it fascinating.none of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life.but ten years later, when we were designing the first macintosh puter, it all came back to me, and we designed it all into the mac.it was the firstputer with beautiful typography.if i had never dropped in on that single course in college, the mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally space fonts, and since windows copied the mac, it s likely that no personal puter would have i had never dropped out, i would never dropped in on that calligraphy class and personals puter might not have the wonderful typography that they do.of course, it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when i was in college, but it was very very clear looking backwards 10 years later.again, you can t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.so you have to trust that the
dots will somehow connect in your future.you have to trust in something, you gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever, because believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.and that would make all the second story is about love and loss.i was lucky, i found what i loved to do early in life, woz and i started apple in my parents garage when i was worked hard and in ten years, apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage in to a $2 billion pany with over 4000 employees.we just released our finest creation, he macintosh, a year earlier, and i d just turned thirty, and then i got fired.how can you get fired from a pany you started?well, as apple grew, we hired someone who i thought was very talented to run the pany with me, and for the first year or so, things went well.but when our visions of the

美国联邦法院前检察官和美国证监会执行律师彼得•海宁告诉《中国新闻周刊》，美国证监会调查的目的不是让苹果公司公布乔布斯的医疗记录，而是要查明苹果公司是否由于投资者希望乔布斯继续担任苹果CEO而人为改变他的健康信息。

在美国《公司法》中，CEO 的职责主要是通过公司的内部章程加以调节，并没有一个明确的制度和操守规范。而在公司治理中，与欧洲公司不同，大多数美国公司也并不存在一个独立的监事会对经理层进行监督，这也使得CEO的神秘主义常常成为管理不善和腐化的源头。
“对于乔布斯健康状况的保密，在一定程度上可以为苹果公司降低风险。”彼得•海宁说。
但是事实表明，CEO的神秘主义通常会带来适得其反的效果。自2008年10月以来，乔布斯一直没有在公共场合出现，对于人们的猜测和疑问也没有做出澄清，这也使得苹果公司未来的命运成为投资者“过度”关注的问题，影响到了投资者的投资选择。
“CEO的非公开行为可能会对维护公司的利益产生作用，但是这也是对投资者权益的剥夺，其中也会隐藏着诸多腐败因素。”上海外国语大学海外利益研究中心主任汪永对《中国新闻周刊》说。
2001年前后美国CEO的辞退狂潮至今还让人记忆犹新。由于管理上的原因，从2000年8月到2001年2月期间，每天平均有4位CEO下台。而美国安然公司的倒台，世界电讯公司的金融诈骗案也为人们敲响警钟，CEO的神秘主义有着诸多的危险。当前，美国证监会对苹果董事会的调查也表明了这种担忧。

出生一周就被生母送人
乔布斯1955年2月24日生于旧金山，他是个私生子。他的生父母乔安妮·西贝尔和叙利亚人阿卜杜拉法塔赫·约翰·钱德里生他时只有23岁，而且还都在威斯康星大学念书，而且都是犹太裔人。
乔布斯的母亲在他不到1周大时，就将他交给加州一对名叫保罗和克拉拉的夫妇收养，并要求后者承诺送他上大学。就在放弃乔布斯的几个月后，乔安妮·西贝尔和钱德里结婚了，后来还生了一个叫莫娜的女儿。
收养乔布斯的保罗是一名机械工程师，他在二战之后搬到了旧金山。乔布斯的名字是他的养父母取的。乔布斯的养父母属于工人阶级，来自旧金山附近的圣克拉拉县。他们一起居住在位于山景城的屋子里。乔布斯的官方履历中写道：“在杏果园长大，这里后来变成了硅谷。”
大学上了一个学期就缀学
养父母成功地把他送到了俄勒冈州波特兰的里德学院，他却在一个学期之后，因为花光养父母的积蓄，辍学了，之后他开始去“蹭”那些感兴趣的课程。
那时他生活颇为窘迫，靠捡拾可乐瓶出售来换钱维持生活，还经常去附近的印度教神庙靠敲钟来换取免费一餐。他选修了书法课，对常规课程却避之不及。
21岁的“嬉皮士”在车库创业
1976年4月,年仅21岁的乔布斯与好友沃兹尼亚克在自家的车库内成立苹果电脑公司。当年,为了创办苹果,乔布斯和好友沃兹尼亚克“卖掉了他们最值钱的东西”。乔布斯卖掉了大众小巴,沃兹尼亚克则卖掉了惠普科学计算器,他们一共筹到了1300美元,并创办了新公司。随后推出的苹果Ⅱ是首批商业上取得成功的个人电脑之一。
年,长发过耳、蓄着一抹嬉皮士唇髭的乔布斯创办苹果六年后,身价“一夜爆涨”至1.59亿美元,从而首次登上《时代》杂志封面。财富的急剧膨胀并未让这个青年产生心理倾斜,他对自己的扮相滞后于身份还懵然无知。
直到创立苹果前,乔布斯还延续着学生时代的邋遢作风。他在Atari公司工作期间,因为身上异味太重,被安排去上夜班。

权力争斗曾让他离开“苹果”
乔布斯1991年与劳伦·鲍威尔结婚，并生了3个孩子。
乔布斯是一名非常有个性的佛教徒。他击败众多竞争对手,建立起一个专注于实现他的愿景的4000人的团队。由于公司里的权力争斗,乔布斯1985年黯然离开苹果。在被苹果赶走之后,他又建立起了另一家公司。但在1996年重返苹果,次年重新担任公司临时首席执行官后,他对苹果公司展开大刀阔斧的改革,在随后十多年中,先后领导苹果不断推出媒体播放器、智能手机以及平板电脑等产品。有关产品的热卖推动苹果走上信息技术产业的潮头。2000年,苹果去掉了乔布斯头衔中“临时”的字样。
自传11月21日上市
据报道,美国出版商西蒙舒斯特公司宣布,乔布斯的自传《史蒂夫·乔布斯传记》将在11月21日上市。
对于这部自传，乔布斯并没有对内容加以限制。负责该书宣传的人说：“乔布斯未做任何干涉，并鼓励熟悉他的人坦诚讨论他的敌人、前任女友、曾经被开除或激怒的同事。”
信佛教 在苹果拿1美元年薪
黑上衣、天蓝牛仔裤和灰色运动鞋成了乔布斯的标准配置。这套加起来不到200美元的行头如果说是年轻富翁精心的自我符号化，还不如说他具有老式的美国犹太族裔传统。

爱书法 将文字的美感融入电脑中
乔布斯曾表示，里德学院当时的书法课程是美国最出色的。贯穿整个校园的每一张海报，每一个抽屉上的每一个书签，都写得很漂亮。
乔布斯还说，当时他因为已退学，便决定去上书法课，学学怎么写出漂亮的文字。他学习了衬线体和无衬线体，学习了改变不同的字母组合间的间距，还有美妙书法的窍门。他说：“这种美感、历史感和微妙的艺术感在科学里并不具备，我觉得它很迷人。这些知识当时在生活中并无用处。
但10年后，当我们设计第一台Macintosh电脑时，我想到了所有的那些书法知识。接着我们将它们融入Mac电脑，使它成为了第一款拥有漂亮字体的电脑。如果我没有参加过那门课程，Mac就不会具有各种各样的、按比例隔开的字体。”
擅演说 求知若饥，虚心若愚
2005年，乔布斯在斯坦福大学毕业典礼上的演讲或许是乔布斯最著名的一次演讲。他谈了自己作为一名大学辍学生的一生、他的创业以及与癌症斗争的故事。最后，他引用了最后一期《全球概览》的话作为结尾：“求知若饥，虚心若愚。”

玩3D 成功推出《玩具总动员》
乔布斯在上世纪90年代的首个大手笔并不是电脑，而是电影。
1986年，乔布斯花1000万美元从乔治·卢卡斯手中收购了电脑动画效果工作室，并成立独立公司皮克斯动画工作室。
在此之后的十年，该公司成了众所周知的3D电脑动画公司，并在1995年推出全球首部全3D立体动画电影《玩具总动员》，在美国和加拿大的初期票房就超过了1.91亿美元。皮克斯的IPO(首次公开招股)也为乔布斯带来了巨额财富。该公司已在2006年被迪士尼收购，乔布斯也因此成为最大股东。
他的敌人们
他强权、刻薄、蛮横 连员工也被他视为敌人
在乔布斯闪耀的成就背后，是他与无数人的“战斗”，就算身边的朋友和员工，也不能阻碍他的计划——要么完全五体投地、死心塌地，要么扫地走人，否则因为你的“不忠诚”，迟早会成为他的眼中钉甚至敌人。
从某种程度上说，乔布斯就是一个独裁者。乔布斯被认为是一个“完美主义者”。他顽固坚持设计唯美，以及用户体验至上，就算他们家要购买一台新洗衣机，他也会召集全家人，从耗水量、清洁剂用量、洗涤时间是一小时还是一个半小时、洗衣速度、对衣服的损耗、洗衣是否只需用四分之一的水等疑难问题展开研讨。
整个过程一直持续了两个星期，到最后选择洗衣机的问题，竟然变成了产品的设计话题。但乔布斯却很享受这种讨论过程，这种“变态心理”也被他带进苹果公司的产品设计中。
有报道称，乔布斯甚至会过问笔记本电脑底座上应该有几个螺丝，或者电脑显示器边角应该有多大弧度。有苹果员工称，苹果的产品在设计等方面精益求精，因此问世之后总是让人“惊艳”。所以，不难理解苹果的产品为何总是如此精致，这是一种“独裁”才能达到的效果。
对员工：不服从就彻底走人
在这三重因素影响下，乔布斯要不惜一切代价实现自己的目标，这正是他的狠劲，以至于他在管理公司时，总是显得强权、刻薄、蛮横和震撼。他总是辱骂员工是“蠢蛋”，就是要让员工怕他，他会不顾一切赶走胆敢挡他道的人，就算是吉尔·阿米里奥这样对他有恩、让他得以重回苹果的人，他也能痛下狠手。
CEO也都是他的敌人，因为他一直觉得他才是苹果公司的真正拥有者，他无法忍受一个外人对他指手划脚。就如《福布斯》杂志记者朱莉·皮特所说：“史蒂夫独自在舞台上献艺，整个硅谷都对他无比佩服。”
如果你胆敢在他的舞台表演，抢走他的锋芒，那么毫无疑问你就是他的敌人，无论你是苹果公司的自己人还是苹果之外的对手。
对对手：向任何公司开战
乔布斯敢于向任何公司开战，只是对他而言，这些敌人并非固定不变的，今天的敌人或许就是明天的合作伙伴，就像他与微软的比尔·盖茨间的江湖情仇。
乔布斯在1996年公开播出的电视纪录片《书呆子的胜利》(Triumph of the Nerds)中说，“我们与微软的唯一问题是，他们没有品位。他们肯定没有品位。他们没有提出原创创意，他们没有向产品注入太多文化特性。”据《纽约时报》披露，这台节目播出后，乔布斯称他向盖茨道了歉，但只是点到为止。
他总是击败其他人，但身体是他最大的敌人
当然，这个不可一世的“乔帮主”还有一个人类共同的敌人也是最大的敌人——死亡，疾病面前，人人平等，即便他是乔布斯，所以当他胰腺被诊断出肿瘤后，他的生命倒计时就成了各类媒体报道的内容。尽管这一天迟早会来，但人们还是无法接受和想象一个没有教主的苹果会怎么样，因为他的身体不再属于自己，乔布斯就是苹果。
2003年10月，《财富》杂志披露乔布斯被查出患有胰腺癌。他先于2004年7月接受手术治疗，2009年又接受了肝脏移植手术，这期间乔布斯曾休病假暂时离开苹果。今年1月，乔布斯第三次因健康原因暂时离职。
胰腺癌被称为“癌中之王”，一般说来，病人出现胰腺癌症状后，平均寿命约为9个月，5年生存率不到2%。不过据称乔布斯所患并非严格意义上的胰腺癌，而是胰岛细胞瘤。这是一种胰腺神经内分泌肿瘤，其恶性程度并不算高，它生长缓慢，在手术切除后患者愈后一般较好。
然而，乔布斯长期以来体重不断下降，出现在众人面前总是一副瘦弱的模样，令很多人担心他的健康。专家称，胰岛细胞瘤可能从多个方面致使病人体重下降，比如影响消化系统。
今年2月17日，美国的八卦报纸《国家询问者》发表了一篇颇为吸引眼球的报道。它刊登了一张乔布斯的照片，并称他可能仅剩下6周生命。在那张照片上，乔布斯看上去非常虚弱，身上的牛仔裤和黑色上衣对他的体型来说已经显得太大。
2月18日晚间，乔布斯就亮相美国总统奥巴马宴请美国IT巨头的晚
宴。不过，细心人还是发现，乔布斯身形极为瘦削，他举杯的高度也明显低于所有在场人士。不少医学专家认为，乔布斯的身体到了存亡的关键时刻，癌症有可能复发，而肝脏移植后的排异反应更有可能正折磨着他。
