【摘要】古今中外绝大多数成功人士都是超级演说家,因此演讲备受推崇,而笔者所在的高职院校更是将课前演讲作为一项学生必须完成的任务去贯彻执行。针对我院学生在“課前一分钟英文演讲”中存在的问题,笔者提出了应对措施,并进一步指出了在大学英语教学实践中应注意的若干方面以及“课前一分钟英文演讲”在培养高职学生综合能力中发挥的重要作用。

【关键词】英文演讲 高职学生 综合能力 教学实践

笔者所在的学院非常重视对学生职业素养的提高,不仅在校园网上设置了“课前一分钟演讲”专题栏目,而且将这项活动纳入了日常教学和班级考核之中。我院要求学生上课前作“课前一分钟演讲”,并安排了学生会干事过来检查登记每个班的演讲情况。我院团委每年定期举办“课前一分钟演讲”挑战赛,目前已举办了十二届。我院“课前一分钟演讲”活动进行得如火如荼,在湖南教育新闻网和湖南电视台新闻栏目都有报道。

一、高职学生“课前一分钟英文演讲”存在的问题及应对措施

为了提高高职学生英语水平和职业素养等综合能力,笔者将“课前一分钟英文演讲”引入大学英语课堂。然而,在英文演讲活动开展的过程中,笔者发现一个很大的问题:虽然学院非常重视此活动,并采取了相关措施保障和促进演讲活动的开展,但学生本身并不太重视。另外,由于高职学生英语水平普遍较低,在英文演讲中表现也不佳。针对不同的问题,笔者在实践中摸索出了下列对策:

1.学生不主动。大多高职学生学习缺乏主动性,因此很少有人主动站出来作“课前1分钟英文演讲”。

应对措施:按学号顺序,人人都要参加。

2.准备不充分。相当一部分演讲的学生没有提前准备或准备得很不充分,有的临时从手机上搜索一段英文来念,自己很不熟悉,发音错误很多,基本上很难听懂;还有的很简单说几句英文自我介绍,就敷衍了事了。

应对措施:与平时成绩挂钩,且占较高比例。

3.不敢开口。部分演讲的学生不敢或不愿开口说英语,想用中文演讲代替。

应对措施:坚持英文演讲,演讲内容和形式可不限。积极鼓励学生,肯定学生的进步,努力发掘学生的闪光点。

4.缺少聆听与互动。学生英文演讲基本没有互动,台下的学生也没有认真去听。

应对措施:设置演讲后的提问环节。教师根据演讲内容提问听的学生或听众提问演讲学生。

二、“课前一分钟英文演讲”在教学实践中应注意的方面

1.教学步骤。在进行“课前一分钟英文演讲”前,要求演讲的学生提交演讲相关材料。这些材料可以是纸制版或电子版的英文演讲稿以及演讲用的PPT或视频等。教师看完演讲材料后,提出改进或修改意见,使之更加完善。课堂演讲教学主要分为下面四个步骤:

第一步,学生演讲。由于大学英语课通常是大班授课,学生人数众多,要求演讲者使用麦克风,以便所有人都能听见。每班指派专人负责拍摄演讲视频。

第二步,教师点评。演讲的学生比较看重教师的点评,因此教师应该多给予积极肯定的评价。同时,也要较委婉地指出其演讲中的不足之处,促进其继续提高,这对听众学生来说也是一种学习和借鉴。

第三步,课堂互动。课堂互动包括师生互动和生生互动两个部分。教师可针对演讲的内容对听众学生提问,比如:“Whats the topic of the speech?”、“What do you think of…?”等等。听众学生也可以就演讲的内容提问演讲的学生。

第四步,演讲评分。评委组由教师和数名学生共同组成。学生评委包括教师指定的部分英语成绩较好的学生和学生自己选出的代表。参照演讲比赛的评分标准,制定评分细则,从演讲的时间、态度、内容、语言表达、技巧等方面进行打分。

在课堂教学时间允许的条件下,可带领学生观看并学习优秀演讲短视频,比如:TED演讲、美国历任总统就职演说、各类大学生英语演讲比赛以及名人的演讲等等。观看这些英文演讲视频,既训练了学生听力,又学习了演讲技巧,还对他们精神上有很好的启发和激励作用。

2.演讲话题。我院《大学英语》课程开设两个学期。根据高职学生的实际情况以及培养学生综合能力的教学目标,演讲的话题按学期分为两个部分:

(1)第一学期学生自主命题。由于新生刚踏入大学校门,对新环境和新同学还不太熟悉,可能会比较拘谨。再加上高职学生英语基础和演讲能力都还比较弱,让他们选择自己感兴趣和擅长的话题进行演讲,这样他们就能有话可说,有感而发了,演讲效果会更好,也有利于增强他们的自信心。

(2)第二学期教师指定命题。经过一个学期的演讲训练,学生的各方面的水平都有相应的提高。进入第二学期,演讲话题由教师根据教学内容、时事热点来指定命题。学生课外主动收集整理相关资料,有利于他们养成自学的习惯。

3.演讲形式。这是一个讲究个性的时代,因此演讲的形式也可以不拘一格。

(1)个人的形式。除了传统的英文演说外,还有用英文讲笑话、朗诵诗、唱歌、猜谜,更有模仿Michael Jackson跳舞、魔术等才艺表演。

(2)双人的形式。比如英文对话。

(3)小组的形式。比如英文小品。

4.演讲时间。虽然活动名为“课前一分钟英文演讲”,但是演讲的时间不仅仅局限于课前的一分钟内。可根据参与的演讲情况和学生人数而定,比如学生在演讲中展示了PPT、分享了视频或是以小组的形式进行的,演讲时间可适当延长。总的来说,演讲用时不得少于一分钟,也不能超过10分钟。演讲活动可以根据教学需要,放到课后进行。

5.其他方面。对于学生提交的演讲资料、现场拍摄的视频以及评分表等要及时地整理保存,不仅可作为学生平时成绩的重要参考依据,而且也相当于给学生建立了一个演讲档案,作为学生能力提升的见证。此外,教师可挑选出优秀的演讲视频,在别的班上进行展示和推广。

三、“课前一分钟英文演讲”在培养高职学生综合能力中的作用

通過多年教学实践证明,“课前一分钟英文演讲”很好地活跃了课堂的气氛,有效地增进了师生间和学生间的交流互动,极大地改善了高职大学英语的教学状况。同时,该活动对于培养高职学生综合能力发挥着积极重要的作用。

1.切实提高高职学生的自主学习能力和团队协作精神。绝大多数高职学生缺乏自主学习能力,在学习上几乎完全依靠教师在课堂上的讲解。我院学管部门和任课教师齐抓学生的课前演讲,促使学生利用课外时间去图书馆查询或网上搜索演讲所需资料,有利于学生自主学习能力的培养和提高。有的演讲是以小组的形式开展的,组内成员分工合作、互帮互助有利于培养学生的团队协作精神。

2.全面提升高职学生英语的听、说、读、写能力。英语学习离不开听、说、读、写这几个方面。在教学中,如果过于强调读写而忽视听说,即使学生有比较扎实的英语基础,但仍然是听不懂、说不出,学的也只是“聋哑英语”,交际能力很弱;如果只重视听说而不加强读写训练,学生语法混乱、词汇量少,能表达的不多而且还是Chinglish(中式英语)。“课前一分钟英文演讲”将这四个方面的能力训练巧妙地融合在一起,是一种综合性的全面训练:演讲前,学生在收集资料、撰写演讲稿时训练了读写能力;演讲时,学生练习了说的能力;演讲后,在互动提问中训练了听力。

3.逐渐培养高职学生在未来工作中的职业素养。“课前一分钟英文演讲”活动能逐渐培养出学生以下的职业素养:⑴克服紧张和畏惧心理,敢于在公众场合发言;⑵逻辑思维缜密和临场应变能力强;⑶在演讲过程中,学会相互尊重、互相聆听。这些专业素养有助于学生毕业后更好地适应工作,也为他们未来的职业生涯奠定了坚实的基础。

总而言之,将“课前一分钟英文演讲”活动在大学英语教学中日常化,使之成为其中重要的一部分,通过持之以恒、循序渐进的训练,能有效培养高职学生的综合能力。

浅谈中学英文写作教学 篇6

社会生活信息化随经济全球化席卷而来,顺畅的交流问题被摆上台面,愈发突出了英语的重要性。因此,应当把写作练习贯穿到整个教学的始终,日积月累,滴水穿石,最终达到融会贯通的效果,解决这一教学难题。

一、学生在英文寫作中面临的困境

近几年英文考卷中,写作的命题越来越开放,学生也越有力不从心之感。主要存在中心不明确、书写不规范、结构残缺、表述不清等问题。例如:

1.中心不明,言之无物

很多学生语言功底挺扎实,表达也很流畅,但是往往因为篇章意识太差,“切题”不准确,分析信息不全面。在议论文中缺乏论据或论据力量不足:在记叙文中顺序颠倒,重点不清;在说明文中描述事物的思路混乱、条理不明等,最终导致文章拿不到高分。

2.写作随意,基础知识薄弱,误用标点符号,存在明显用简单字词拼接成句凑字数出文章的普遍现象

有学生对基本语法知识掌握不牢,对固定词汇搭配和用法记忆不清。出现诸如主谓不一致,单复数不清,从句使用不当,定冠词和不定冠词乱用,时态语法混乱等各种让人头疼的现象。也有些学生斤斤计较于文章字数,以为自己已经符合写作要求。然而此类文章往往单薄无力,毫无美感,自然也不可能得到较高的分数。

3.受汉语思维影响较多,表达语句不伦不类

一方面是学生的词汇限制,致使他们有口难言,欲说不能。另一方面缺少语言环境,没有接触足够多的英语文章、期刊、小说和电影等语言材料,不能模仿使用地道的、自然的英语来表达自己的思想。最终导致写出的文章从整体而言,句与句之间的衔接性不够,有较为明显的割裂感,生涩而生硬。

以上所列举的中学英文写作弊病具有一定的普遍性和代表性,只有在了解初中生常见的写作弊病类型和产生的原因后,才能在英文写作训练中“有的放矢”“对症下药”,进而有效帮助并促进初中生英文写作能力的提高。

二、破解中学英文写作困境的对策

1.加强阅读,重视教材

广泛的阅读不仅可以让学生拓宽词汇面,接触地道的书面语言,充实写作素材,积累丰富的语言知识。而且能够开阔学生的视野,陶冶其情操,提高独立思考和判断的能力以及自身的人文素养。

读与写的有机结合,可以通过阅读文章来调动学生原有的知识储备,鼓励学生站在作者的角度思考问题,提炼写作框架。“阅读和写作是两个相似的动态的相互作用的过程,都包含有预先存在的记忆结构,都对语篇结构进行分析。”而教材中所选的课文一般都是语言地道、话题贴近学生日常生活的范文。授人以鱼,不如授人以渔,因此教师对课文的讲解应当采取精读、精讲的方式,做好点、线、面教学。

2.进行思维训练

面对一些学生经常运用汉语思维进行英文写作的情况,应该对中学生的英语思维进行分阶段、有针对性的训练。在接触原文和背诵的基础上帮助他们了解英语文化的表达方式,有了一定的语言基础,形成了较好的语感才能养成用英语思维的习惯。因此,坚持不懈地进行这种思维训练才能达到在英文写作中真正运用英语思维的状态。

三、对英语写作教学的启示

1.英文写作水平的提高不是一蹴而就的事情,平时的写作训练可循序渐进

例如,先结合课文模仿写作,进行稍微容易的读写结合训练。或者改写、续写或编写课文的结尾。这样既可提高学生对课文的兴趣、又可激发他们的写作热情,消除其对写作的畏难情绪。

2.要教给学生写作的方法

方法得当,事半功倍;方法不当,事倍功半。写英文文章也是如此。中学生常用的英文写作方法有很多,例如激问法、开门见山点题法以及句式变换多样性、语句自然连贯衔接等等。

3.让学生批改学生的作文也可以激发他们的学习兴趣

教师可以将学生分成若干小组,由组长批改该组成员文章,或者各小组互换文章更改。这样不仅能够提高学生的写作能力,还可以促进学生间互相帮助,从而加深同学情谊。

I feel greatly honored to speak here on behalf of the students’ Union. Nowadays, many students are in poor health, which is not beneficial to their studies. This worries the teachers and parents a lot.

Personally speaking, the reasons for this situation are as follows: firstly, they have developed a bad habit of living and learning. They pay no attention to a balanced diet; they never consider reasonable arrangements for relaxation. Besides, loaded with endless homework, they lack exercise.

To solve the problems mentioned above, effective measures must be taken. Schools should call for pupils to participate in physical exercise, such as running 2km a day. It is necessary for the students to form good eating habits. Teachers should reduce the load so that students can combine their studies with pleasure. All these will help the students to enjoy good health.

I do hope all the students will realize this situation and take action to improve our health and studies.

It’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. Not long before about 10 Doctors in Beijing university and Qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

Frankly speaking, I don’t quite agree with them.Indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as China boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).But why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in China. On the one hand, some of the western holidays which we Chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as Father’s Day and April Fool’s Day etc. On the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in China. Overwhelmed by such a trend,Chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture. With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. We are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.The only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? The answer is definitely no. What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate Chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. Only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. Only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us. 如何提高高职学生复述英文的能力 篇9

一、精心设计问题,引导学生熟悉课文

高职学校使用的教材与高中课本难易程度相同或相近,题材广泛,知识性、文学性和趣味性极强,都有非常完整的主题和情景。a

例如,《Abraham Lincoln》一文,主要介绍的是美国总统亚伯拉罕•林肯的简历,包括他短暂的念书过程,以及他为黑奴解放而辛勤地工作,最后遭到枪杀的经历。在复述这篇课文之前,首先对林肯在美国历史上的影响及其废除奴隶制的历史条件,对学生进行讲解,培养学生的间接兴趣,使学生在头脑中对课文的关键语句有一定的感觉。这种最简单的心理过程,是获得知识的源泉。

例如:against slavery(反对奴隶制度);President of the United States(美国总统);No more than a year in all(总共不到一年);The American Civil war(美国内战);Slave owners(奴隶主)。这些关键词语,学生在头脑中集中思维、综合、全面地思考,对林肯的大概历程就有了简单印象。

然后,精心设计与课文联系密切的问题,如who is Abraham Lincoln?where did he live as a child?Did he like slavery?How did he fight against slavery?When was the Civil War broken?Where was Lincoln shut?Is Lincoln shut?学生如果对这些问题全部都能回答,那说明他们对课文基本理解了。这样有利于学生熟悉课文,为课文的复述奠定了一定的基础。

二、利用现代化视听手段,展示课文内容,引起学生复述课文的兴趣

心理学认为,兴趣是积极探索的认识倾向,有了兴趣,做事才能积极。所以,要想法设法让学生对复述课文有兴趣。利用现代化的视听手段,无疑是激发学生兴趣的最好途径。

例如,《The Necklace》,由于是短剧形式,人物形象鲜明,舞台背景简单。笔者制作了幻灯片,画出情节,配上录音,展开在学生面前的仿佛是个小舞台,再加上旁白,学生如同在观看一场话剧,兴趣一下子就被激发起来。通过边看幻灯片,边听录音,将整个课文全面展示在学生面前,学生自然就把情节记得很牢,对课文的理解自然就加深了,复述起来也就不觉得难了。

三、教师示范,引起学生鲜明的复述课文的表象

教师的示范很关键,它能够教会学生如何复述课文,如何进行组织语言。例如,《Karl Marx》一文,可以这样复述:Karl Marx was born in Germany and German was his native language. He was interested in police. He often moved on for political reasons. At last, he stayed in London, Marx studied English hard. He wrote articles in English for an American newspaper. He also wrote one of his great works “The Civil War in France”. Marx started to learn Russian when he was about fifty years old. He gave some advice on how to learn a foreign language.

需要注意的是,教师在示范时,要多运用学过的简单句或同意句改写;将直接引语变为间接引语;注意当时情节所需的时态;注意话语的衔接,适当加入连词、副词;不能出现错、病句等。

四、 分组设问,复述课文,激发学习动机

要想将复述课文的练习做好,教师需认真设计,将学生分成几组,分四个步骤:组与组互相就课文提问,熟悉课文;各组分别复述课文;互相总评,选出精劣句,并进行改正;最后由教师进行总结。
