1.弱化师生关系, 不利于师生之间的情感交流。笔者始终认为, 多媒体技术只是教师进行英语教学的工具, 作为教师, 不可以过度重视工具的使用而忽视师生之间情感的交流。但是当前多媒体教学过程中, 教师或多或少会存在和学生沟通的缺陷, 从而导致师生之间交流的匮乏。多媒体教学的过程中, 信息的传递缺乏互动性, 并且语言是生涩的, 缺乏情感。这是教师在使用多媒体技术中最可能出现的弊端, 一定要多加注意。
2.学生容易在接受信息的过程中分散注意力。多媒体技术的优势也是其劣势, 例如多种信息的复杂结合, 形成的绚丽的场景, 既能够提升学生学习的兴趣, 同时也会因为信息的过于杂乱, 让学生的注意力难以集中, 从而不能够在有效的时间内抓住学习的重点。
三、有效将高校英语教学和多媒体技术相结合的做法
笔者认为, 作为一名合格的英语教师, 首要做到的就是将课件内容丰富化, 而不是课件形式的绚丽华, 因为只有课件的内容丰富了, 结合一定的课件展开形式, 才能够发挥多媒体技术的强大, 而不会导致学生注意力的分散。其次教师一定要严格控制每一节课给学生输出的信息量, 从而促使学生能在优先的时间内充分理解教师展示的课件内容。在质的基础上增加量, 而不是在量的基础上忽视质, 与广大同仁共勉。
结语:综上可得, 多媒体教学对于大学英语教学而言, 存在不可替代的优势。但是作为一名合格的大学英语教师, 切记把握好使用多媒体技术的度, 从而能够最大化得发挥多媒体技术的功能的同时, 避免和学生产生隔阂以及减少学生不能及时吸收课堂知识的现象。这需要广大同仁不断摸索总结, 才能够逐步体会到那层度, 此路漫长, 与君共勉。

一、二者整合的优势
1.信息技术与英语课程整合进行教学增强了英语课堂教学的趣味性
传统的英语教学模式全凭一本书、一块黑板、一支粉笔，多半是枯燥而乏味的，难以调动学生学习的积极性。而多媒体的使用则能产生多种感官的刺激，调动眼、耳、嘴、手的积极性，同时又有助于教师创设教学情境，带动学生进入角色，实现课堂教学的有效互动，例如，在教学一些英语经典剧本时，与其照本宣科，“填鸭式”地一句一句给学生翻译帮其理解，不如利用多媒体适当地给学生播放原声电影，让学生模仿其中人物扮演角色，通过图声并茂的方式激发和提高他们的英语表达欲望和兴趣，通过这种方式使学习内容达到了真正意义上的图文并茂、栩栩如生，使学生因此由被动学习者变成了具有高度学习兴趣的主动参与者，寓教于乐得以落到实处。这样一来，学生的学习兴趣提高了，学习的效率自然也就提高了。
2.信息技术的使用使课堂信息量加大，节奏快，教材内容更加丰富
多媒体信息量大且速度快的优势可帮助教师传递大量的信息，能提供多种形式的训练方法。世界各国的风情习俗资料只要上网就可以查阅到，学生在大开眼界的同时，不知不觉中接受和掌握了信息。例如，在讲授人教版新课标book 3 unit 3“Million Pound bank
note”这一单元时，要求学生掌握作者的相关信息，课本中只给出了最基本的情况，单凭课文中的文字，学生无法对作者马克·吐温形成全面的认识，这种情况下利用多媒体把必要的补充文本材料或者视频材料展示给学生，使学生获取了书本上找不到的必要信息。
由于多媒体教学课件已经在上课前制作好，因此，内容的传授也就比传统的粉笔加黑板要快得多，课堂的节奏比较紧凑，教师有更充裕的时间去巩固学生的学习效果。因此，知识的输入量比较大。
3.信息技术的使用使教学重点、教学难点突出，而且易于突破

1.信息技术手段喧宾夺主
在课堂教学中，有些教师错误地认为多媒体课件做得超复杂越好，事实上则不然，因为过于花哨和复杂的课件不但过多地占用了教师研究教材教法的时间，而且影响了学生思维的专注性，从而降低课堂的教学效果。
2.信息技术教学限制学生的思维
信息技术教学中课件的使用在一定的程度上是流于形式。是教师自己精心设计、自己导演的一出精彩的教的画面，上课就变成了幻灯片放映，受课件的编制形式所累，课堂教學被课件材料牵着鼻子走。学生学习也按照整个课件的结构和一些问题的“标准答案”进行，按照预先设定的模式、思路、线索进行人机交互，忽略了学生的思维进程，使学生根本没有足够的时间深入地思考，只能顺应设计者的思维方式做一些简单的应答。这种做法限制甚至遏制了学生思维能力尤其是求异思维的发展，不利于鼓励创新，也与素质教育的原则背道而驰。
