桃源水电站位于双洲，双洲是沅江江心紧密相连的两个小岛，就像两颗翡翠镶嵌在美丽的沅江里。这两个小岛的总面积约有六平方公里，原来这里居住着两百多户人家，大多以种菜为生。沅江大桥从洲头横跨而过。双洲还是人们游玩休闲的地方，当你走进双洲，就好像走进了原始森林。岛上绿树成荫，古木参天，鸟语花香，空气清新。成群的白鹭时而翱翔蓝天，时而漫步在浅水摊头，时而站立在大树绝顶，这些美丽的鸟儿总会引起游人的驻足观望。岛上游人的休闲聚会、嬉戏玩耍，也给小岛带来了欢笑与快乐。

今天，我们又来到了双洲，这时隔还不到一年的时间，我发现双洲完全变样了。高耸的大树消失殆尽了，清脆的鸟鸣听不到了，成群的白鹭远走高飞了，岛上的居民都搬家了，休闲的人们也很少见了。取而代之的.是一片繁忙的建设景象。十几台巨大的起吊机伸着长长的臂膀，把建筑材料吊到高高的大坝的坝墩上;一台台搅拌机，排成一排，都有七八层楼那么高，搅拌着混凝土，发出隆隆的响声;几十台挖土机正在疏通着航道，不停的挖掘着浅水滩头的砂卵石，一辆辆载重车把砂卵石运到小岛上， ?砂卵石堆成了一座座小山……

回家时，我来到工程指挥部，看到了水电站建成后的鸟瞰图。如果水电站建成了，有清清的河水，偎依着绿绿的小岛，还有横跨沅江的拦河大坝、卧在江心的发电厂房和长长的船闸。我想：当水电站建成后，双洲一定会变得更加美好，鸟儿会重返小岛，游人会络绎不绝……
