第四步, 介绍学习英语的科学方法, 并介绍词典、录音机及复读机对英语学习的促进作用, 要求有条件的学生做好准备。
第五步, 告诉学生, 要学好英语就得学好语音、词汇、语法和口语。
第六步, 告诉学生, 现在有条件的学生从三年级、甚至一年级或幼儿园起就已开始学习英语, 但我们农村中学的孩子基本没那个条件, 大多直到上了初中才起步。我们已经比城市孩子落后了不少, 我们应该看到差距。但更重要的是, 我们要树立信心, 奋起直追, 力争赶上甚至超过他们!
第七步, 教唱字母歌, 为第二堂英语课的字母教学打下基础。

首先, 教师要关心爱护学生。老师和蔼可亲的语气、协调自如的表情、真诚的微笑、信任的眼神、恰当的鼓励, 能给学生带来感官上和精神上的愉悦。课后, 从生活上多关心他们, 注意他们在情绪、思想和行为上的变化, 就像父母一样与他们多交流、多谈心, 帮助他们答疑解难。其次, 教师要平等对待学生, 要尊重学生, 保护他们的自尊心和积极性, 对学生应以鼓励为主, 及时发现他们的点滴进步, 给予肯定或表扬, 使学生感觉到自己时刻在进步, 不断体验到成功的喜悦, 提高学习英语的兴趣和信心。兴趣是推动学生学习的一种动力。愉快教学就是通过营造轻松、欢快的课堂气氛, 培养学生的兴趣, 激发学生的学习热情和积极性。我采取了一些方法, 如:帮助班上的学生改英文名, 尽量多讲一些关于英美国家的习俗、文化的故事, 使学生能够爱上英语。
三、做好记忆方法指导, 让学生轻松学习
1.语音规则记忆法。
在教授生词的时候, 我根据本课的新单词, 联系旧单词, 总结读音规则。如, 在教新单词时, 总结出字母a的读音规则:a在单词past, half中是发[:];在单词late, game中是发[ei:]。通过这样的总结, 学生就能顺利地读出单词, 渐渐地也能写出单词。
2.扩展联想记忆法。
在教生词travel的时候引导学生联想旅行用的交通工具, 如boat, bus, ship, plane, car, taxi...并且可以联系by, take, on, in的用法。
3.归类集中记忆法。
鼓励学生将所学过的单词归类集中:按归属范围归类;按词的用法特点归类;按字母组合归类;按同义词、反义词归类等。
4.构词分组记忆法。
引导学生利用构词法迅速、准确地记忆单词, 增加词汇量。
四、注重基本技能的训练, 让学生积极学习
培养为交际听、说、读、写运用英语的能力既是目的, 又是使知识转化为能力的重要基本功训练手法。它要求打好口语基础, 并在这基础上培养读写能力。外语教学从听说入手, 读写跟上是一条有效的捷径。初一英语教材比较生活化, 听力、口语素材非常多, 在学生学习英语的初级阶段, 作为英语教师, 应根据学生特点, 因材施教, 着重培养学生学习英语的兴趣, 把知识点分散教授, 以学生为主体, 教师适当启发, 点燃学生学习的热情, 让学生感受学习的乐趣和运用、驾驭语言的成功感受, 才能使学生有身临其境的感觉, 有兴趣去学、去完成任务。听力方面, 让学生不断地听标准的英语, 进行模仿, 认真听老师的课堂用语及掌握有关听力技巧, 听写单词、学唱英文歌或收看英文电视节目。口语方面, 让学生经常大声、清晰地朗读英语, 以增强语感, 尽可能多地开口说英语, 如参加英文诗歌朗诵比赛、讲英语小故事、英语演讲等活动。阅读方面, 让学生克服不良的阅读习惯, 如音读、心读、指读、回视、复视等;掌握段落和篇章的阅读技巧, 大胆根据上下文的线索、构词法、普通常识等去推测词义;运用略读、寻读方法进行快速阅读;课外多阅读英语报纸和杂志, 并坚持做读书笔记。写作方面, 按句子—段落—文章的顺序循序渐进练笔;多改写句子;运用信件、日记、周记的形式练笔;经常阅读或背诵范文, 进行看图写作练习。
