语言作为交际工具的这一特征决定了英语教学就是要通过各种交际活动使学生认识英语，掌握英语，培养运用英语的能力。演讲是现代生活中重要的语言交际活动方式，也是培养学生创新能力，逻辑思维能力，以及用英语清楚地表达思想的能力的有效方法。

笔者通过在初中英语的课堂上组织学生参与英语演讲，让学生在尽情展现和发挥的过程中提升英语的表达能力以及语言的综合运用能力。

语言能力的提升遵循着循序渐进的原则，组织演讲的开展也不能一蹴而就，需要分阶段进行。

一、赏析演讲阶段

演讲是一种特殊的语言艺术的表现形式，富有感染力和号召力的演讲能够带动学生学习语言的热情。马丁·路德·金在游行集会上的演讲轰动了全世界，奥巴马激情澎湃的演讲赢得了总统竞选，马云流利的英语演讲为他开拓了海外市场。在课堂上播放名人演讲的视频，让学生体验语言的魅力，感受语言的力量，激发学生演讲的动力。在课外，还可以让学生自己去收集好的演讲稿进行学习和仿写。

二、模仿演讲阶段

英语作为一门外语，需要通过大量的模仿来习得。演讲不同于背诵，应更具感染力。模仿演讲时，需要关注演讲者的语音、语调，连读、略读和浊化等语言现象，更要模仿演讲者的眼神、表情、手势和体态等。千百次的模仿，才能换来演讲台上的惟妙惟肖。

三、命题演讲阶段

笔者从事初一的英语教学工作，现结合自己的实践来谈一谈如何让演讲走进学生的课堂。

1.选择合适的演讲题目

要结合学生的实际水平，设置贴近学生生活的演讲题目。初一上学期，学生刚由小学进入初中，带着憧憬和梦想迈入新的知识殿堂。我就以“I have a dream”为演讲题目，让学生畅谈自己的梦想。在新的班集体里，学生之间还不太了解，就以“Introduce myself”为题来帮助生生和师生的互相了解。完整地表述一件事情是日常交际中必不可少的技能。所以，又以“An unforgettable thing”为题目，让他们描述经历过的一件难忘的事情。演讲的题目贴近学生，让学生有话可说，有情可抒。演讲在难度上也要循序渐进，由命题到半开放，最后到全开放。

英语演讲一开始进展得不是很顺利，学生的思路很狭隘。教师要及时点拨，前一个学生演讲之后的点评极为重要，可以让后面的学生在点评中得到启示，朝着期望的方向发展。学生的每一点改变和进步都会让我欣喜，也让有英语演讲的课堂充满了勃勃的生机。

2.演讲在课堂上的操作

培养学生的演讲才能，提高学生的英语表达能力，看似一项浩大的工程，也可分解到每日的课堂当中。不要吝惜课堂上的时间，小的投入会有大的回报。我要求按学号每日有三个学生提前做好演讲准备，第二天依次上讲台演讲。在初期学生的口语能力还较弱时，可允许学生带稿演讲。学生不够自信声音太小时，要提前为他们准备好扩音器。注意了这些细节才能保证每日的演讲顺利进行。活动要求全员参与，但学生之间在口语表达上存在着很大的差异，不能用同一标准来审视和评判。随着几轮演讲的开展，要求也要逐渐提高，由带稿到脱稿，由表达清楚到表达流畅，由声音清晰到具有层次富有感染力。

我们要尊重每一位上台演讲的学生，在演讲前给予热烈的鼓励掌声，演讲时注意倾听，演讲后教师要肯定精彩之处以及提出需要改进之处。这一环节后来可以逐步放手让学生来做。

3.演讲前后的工作

每日每人演讲的时间只有2至3分钟，但演讲之前必须做好充分的准备工作。写稿、背稿、脱稿，还要试讲。这一流程不可缺少。要求学生认真对待演讲的同时，教师也要同样付出辛劳。学生一般都会把写好的稿子交给我看，我帮其纠正里面的错误。如果有些学生基础太差，实在是动不了笔，开不了口，教师一定要主动提供帮助，不能让他们孤立无援，挫伤他们对演讲的积极性，甚至是对英语学习的兴趣。比如，可以帮他们把想说的话用简单的英语表达出来，然后逐句教他们念熟。演讲稿可以短一点，能背则背，不能背则要求读流畅。

猜测词义题意在考查学生通过阅读原文并能依据原文的语境、上下文的连贯性来推测题中所考查的词、短语以及句子大意的综合能力。要求考生能读懂书、报、杂志中关于一般性话题的简短文章以及公告、说明、广告等，并能从中获取相关信息，根据上下文推断生词意义。

一、猜测词义类题目常见的设问方式

1. The word “…”refers to / probably means_____.

2. The underlined word “…” could best be replaced by_____.

3. The concept of “…” is applied to_____.

4. Which of the following is the closest in meaning to “…”

5. “…”as used in the passage can be best defined as_______.

二、猜测词义的方法

1.利用构词法知识猜测词义。

构词法有：（1）转化法（2）合成法（3）派生法

如果一个生词由两个熟悉的单词合起来得到一个新词——合成词或者是由一个词根加前缀或后缀构成一个新词——派生词，那么我们就可以利用原有词的意思来推测新词的意思。例如：act作动词是：表演、扮演、行动等意思。作为词根也可组成不同意思的词，如下：

后缀：actor男演员；actress女演员；active积极的、活跃的； actively积极地、活跃地； activity活动、活跃、活力；activist积极分子、活跃分子； action行动、行为； actual实际的、事实上的； actually实际上

前缀：exact确切的；exactly 确切地；exactness精密、精确

这个词看似简单，但在给它一个前缀和后缀后，可以派生出很多词，并且可以由act的意思去猜测这些派生词的词义。

2.利用同位语猜测词义。常见同位语的词语有or，like， similarly，that is， in other words，that is to say，namely等，或以括号，逗号或破折号的形式出现，或直接在该词后有相关解释。

例如：The problems， where we are going and how to go， are still unsolved.

分析：这个句子的主干“The problems are still unsolved.”，两个“，”之间的成份是同位语，来解释还没有解决的问题是什么问题：我们将去哪儿以及如何去的问题。

3.依据定语从句猜测词义。在所需猜测词后常跟定语从句修饰或解释说明，通过分析这一修饰或解释部分，考生可理解该词基本含义。线索词有who， that，which ， is 等。

例如：（2013课标II，C）And forchocolate snobs， who think that they have a better knowledge of chocolate than others.

分析：根据后面定语从句“他们认为自己比别人更了解巧克力”可猜出划线词意思为“对巧克力很挑剔的人”。

4.运用所给例子来猜测词义。某些不常用的生僻词，作者通常会在这个词的后面举一个例子，读者就会理解这个生僻词的。常见词有for instance， such as ，for example 等。

例如：（2014江西，D） With the communication gadgets， such as mobile phones and iPads，

People do not take the effort to visit one another personally.

分析：划线词后列举了手机和平板电脑，猜测 gadgets指通讯工具。

5.利用同义词猜测词义。为了避免某个词重复出现，作者会使用同义词代替。表示同义词语有like， in the same way， just as等。

例如（2014 广东，B）Anne says， “Kindness can build on itself as much as violence can.”题目中build on 和选项C） Kindness and violence can reproduce themselves.中reproduce对应。

6.利用对比词语猜测词义。阅读中作者运用对比的手法，用反义词，也可以暗示出生词的含义。常见词如下：different from this， conversely， but on the other side ， not only…but also， yet， nevertheless， rather than， but等。除此外，分号也可表示对比。

7.运用代词指代猜测词义。判断代词的类型，阅读前句，找出句中相应名词，如该名词符合逻辑关系，则为划线代词所替代内容。

通过探究、归纳以上做题方法，不仅弥补了学生解题方法的不足，而且提高了解题的正确率，同时增进了对英语的喜爱。
