高考英语阅读理解题主要是由阅读短文和短文后的试题组成的。阅读理解短文选材广泛, 内容丰富, 往往涉及日常生活、人物传记、国内外风土人情、故事传说、社会文化、政治经济、史地科技、自然现象、新闻报道、体育活动、广告说明、书信通知、目录等许多方面的内容。文体多采用叙述、描写、说明、议论及应用文等形式。笔者从事英语教学近七年, 深深感到有些学生之所以很难提高英语成绩主要是因为阅读能力的欠缺, 因此在现阶段的英语教学中, 如何提高阅读能力就显得尤为重要了。现将高考英语阅读理解题中时事新闻类文章的特点、命题角度及解题策略分述如下:
一、文章特点
时事新闻类阅读材料的组成有一个共同的特点, 即都是由标题 (H eadlines) 、导语 (Introductions) 、背景 (Background) 、主体 (M ain body) 和结尾 (Ends) 五部分构成。此类文章主题突出, 文章的第一句话或第一自然段往往就是对整篇文章的高度概括, 因此读懂首句或首段至关重要。下面分别叙述这五个部分在阅读理解中的作用:
标题是新闻报道中心思想高度而又精辟的概括, 必然是命题者考虑设题的重点。这类阅读理解材料常不给出标题, 而要考生选择标题。因此, 学生平时在看英语报刊或者在做时事新闻类阅读理解题时要特别注意研究标题和英语标题的特点。作为新闻中最重要的组成部分, 新闻标题总结新闻的内容, 使读者一目了然。英语新闻标题语言特别, 与其他文体有较大的差异。新闻标题有许多功能, 其最大功能就是吸引功能。因此, 新闻标题的设计就极为重要, 这也决定了新闻标题简练醒目、可读性强、风趣幽默、新颖奇特的特点。因此, 了解其语言特点不仅能够帮助学生更好地理解新闻内容, 而且还能够帮助学生提高解题能力。
导语是消息开头的第一段或第一句话, 它扼要地揭示出消息的核心内容, 高度概括新闻事实。因此, 抓导语便对新闻事件有了大体把握, 对做阅读理解试题来说就是抓住了“牛鼻子”。作者总是在一开始就向读者交代何人、何时、何地、为什么、怎么样、干了何事等等, 如果是用英文表示就是who (w hom) 、what、when、where、why以及how, 这也就是我们通常所说的五个“W”和一个“H”。一般来说, 新闻一开始就交代了以上内容, 只要读懂了第一句也就明白了这则新闻的大概意思, 再往下读只是了解更多的细节内容。在训练新闻阅读理解练习题时, 一定要牢记这五个“W”和一个“H”。边读边分析边记忆各自的情况, 不仅有助于搞清文章的脉络, 弄清基本事实, 还有助于提高阅读能力, 提高阅读速度。
新闻背景交待新闻事实的起因, 主体是消息的主要部分, 它用充足的事实表现主题, 是对导语内容的进一步展开和阐释。
新闻报道的结语一般是最后一句话或者一段话, 通常对全文内容作概括性的总结, 或对新闻事件的发展趋势作出预测。有时, 作者根据报道的事实在结语中提出令人深思的问题。结尾往往是新闻事件的结果或动态展望, 也是中心思想的概括并常常与新闻导语相呼应, 命题者也乐于在此设题。
二、命题角度
此类阅读材料的命题在新闻背景和主体部分设题较多, 有时可能会省去一两个部分, 要求考生依据五个部分之间的必然联系去推知未知的要素。
命题形式主要有事实细节题、词义猜测题、推理判断题和识图题等, 其中事实细节题和计算题占多数。
三、解题策略
高考英语阅读理解题中时事新闻类文章具有很大的实用性, 侧重考查学生运用英语解决实际问题的能力。近年来, 此类阅读文章中难句增多、生词量加大, 这要求学生在学习过程中增加阅读量, 积累更多的课外词汇。《21世纪学生英文报》语言地道, 知识丰富, 里面包含了很多国内外时事新闻类的文章。笔者要求所教学生订阅《21世纪学生英文报》, 每周开设英语报刊阅读课。学生学习英语的兴趣有了明显提高, 培养了各项英语学习技能, 学习效果明显提高。同时学生扩大了词汇量, 拓展了文化视野, 情感道德价值观受到熏陶, 其时事新闻类文章的解题速度和解题能力得到明显提高。
另外笔者建议学生可以利用收音机或电脑收听“美国之音”, 那上面的材料都是最新的时事材料, 同时也是最地道的美国英语。学生可以收听“美国之音”中“special English”的新闻节目。这样既能提高英语听力, 又能了解国内外时事新闻进而提高英语阅读能力, 真是一举两得的事。
最后要想做好时事新闻类阅读理解题, 学生必须要善于捕捉新闻细节, 根据问题善于找到相关句并能分析理解长难句, 善于根据上下文猜测单词、短语的含义, 善于归纳、概括、推理、判断及简单计算, 这样才能做好这部分试题。
总之, 阅读理解试题是高考试题中最重要的一项内容, 在近年的高考英语阅读理解题中, 时事新闻报道类的文章出现频率较高, 占有相当重要的地位。英语阅读能力的培养是一个渐进的复杂过程, 要养成每天阅读英语的习惯, 循序渐进, 持之以恒。在潜移默化中你会感觉到你的阅读能力有了长足的提高。如果学生按上述解题策略去做, 再做些适当的练习, 一定会在时事新闻类文章的阅读解题能力上取得突破。

自然科学素质是同学们综合素质的表现,自然科学素质的高低更影响着我们今后的发展。但是目前同学们自然科学素质现状令人担忧,2004年黄国雄关于高中生的自然科学素质调查表明,仅有35.8%的高中生基本掌握科学知识[1-2]。而在自然科学素质的养成过程中,自然科普类读物起着决定性作用,因此,对高中生自然科普类读物的阅读现状进行调查就具有紧迫性。
一、研究过程及研究方法
1.研究对象
随机选取我省三所高中的六个班级作为研究对象,省级高中一个,地市级高中一个,县级高中一个,每个高中随机选取两个班级,一个文科班级,一个理科班级。此次研究共发送调查问卷350份,回收350分,有效问卷340份,问卷有效率97.1%。
为保证调查结果的准确性,仅选择高二学生作为研究对象,引起阅读时间和阅读环境相对稳定,因此具有一定的代表性。
2.研究工具
调查问卷为自编问卷,共20道题,问卷包括三个大部分:学生及家长的基本情况;学会高中自然科普读物的基本状况;老师、学校及家长的基本态度。
3.调查结果的处理
调查结果采用SPSS16.0软件进行统计分析。

1.调查结果
(1)自然知识获取途径
调查研究显示,同学们自然知识途径的前三位主要为电视、网络及科普书籍,占比分别为33.0%,29.5%和27.0%,其中电视和网络占比高达一般以上。可见随着互联网即电视的普及,视听阅读比重已经超过文本阅读,大众传媒的影响力不断扩张。详细数据见表1.
(2)自然科学类科普读物的获取途径
调查研究显示,同学们自然科普类书籍获取途径排在第一位的是网上阅读,占比为35.5%,排在第二位的是购买,占比为28.1%,以后依次为借阅(向同学或者图书馆借阅)、租书和其他。以上结果表明网络成为同学们阅读自然科普类书籍的主要途径,但是由于图书馆实际藏书有限,而实体借阅则未能充分发挥其积极作用。详细数据见表2。
(3)高中生自然科学类科普读物的阅读时间
同学们自然科普类书籍阅读时间最长为14h,最短为0h,平均值为1.905h。自然科普类书籍阅读时间在1~2h之间占比为16.5%,阅读时间在1h以内占比为59.5%。我们从以上可以看出,同学们自然科普类书籍的阅读时间短,严重影响着同学们自然科学素质的提高。
2.调查结果分析
通过上述调查得出,同学们自然科学类科普读物的阅读现状令人担忧,其原因有如下几种:学校类型的影响,不同的学校具有不同的学生培养目标和培养标准,因此造成同学们自然科学类科普读物阅读时间短,自然科学素质偏低;其次是家庭及家庭经济因素的影响,这包括父母的职业、家庭的经济地位和社会地位;老师对于自然科学类科普读物的支持态度,高中生阶段教师对我们的影响最大,老师对事物的态度会影响我们的社会实践活动。
三、结论与建议
1.结论
同学们自然科学类科普读物阅读时间偏短,随着现代科学技术的进步,社会需求的人才结构发生较大变化,新型的复合型人才才能不断满足社会发展的需要,课本知识远远无法满足实际的知识积累的需求,可同学们自然科学类科普读物阅读时间将是我们自然科学知识获取的主要保障;视听阅读远超过文本阅读,随着互联网的普及,同学们的视听阅读对自然科学类科普读物的阅读习惯产生重大改变,但是与传统的文本阅读相比,视听阅读存在及时性等特点,并不能完全适用于自然科学知识的获取,也影响着同学们自然科学知识的获取;在整个高中阶段,我们的实践行为受学校、教师及家长的影响较大。因此对于目前同学们自然科学类科普读物的阅读现状,学校、教师及家长应该负有一定的责任。
2.建议
从老师方面来讲,老师应该以身作则,加强自然科学类科普读物的阅读,不断完善自身的自然科学素质,加强对学生的引导作用。另外,老师要创造良好的阅读环境,例如老师可以在班级开设班级阅读室,使同学可以随机阅读,养成阅读自然科学类科普读物的习惯。老师还要加强阅读引导,定期对同学推荐优秀书目,与实际教学相符想成,不断提高教学效果。
从家长方面来讲,家长要转变以往的阅读理念,提倡孩子阅读自然科学类科普读物,完全的课本知识并不能满足我们成长发育的需要。另外,要为我们创造良好的家庭阅读氛围,家长要以身作则,定期陪孩子进行阅读,在不干预我们正常生活学习的情况下满足我们的阅读需求。
从学校方面来讲,学校应该加大图书馆的建设力度,丰富学校图书馆的藏书,加大新书的引进力度,更新图书馆的藏书种类,定期或不定期地对同学们进行开放,真正发挥图书馆的文化基地的作用。定期开展科普宣传活动,提高同学们科普知识的学习兴趣,鼓励同学们动手做实驗,提高同学们的探究能力,让同学们在实际操作中获得动手能力的提高和知识的增长,提高同学们对自然科学类科普读物阅读的重视程度。

(一)花开两朵,各表一枝型
特点:一般是开头提出两个核心概念,随后分段论述。
方法:阅读这种类型的文章,关键是要把握两个概念的定义以及它们的区别与联系。
(二)问题答案型
特点:往往是在第一段出现一个问题,在随后的各段提供该问题的答案。
方法:阅读时重点理解该文章的中心,其中心就是该问题的最直接最主要的答案。
(三)时文型
特点:耸人听闻,吸引眼球;貌似客观,内涵态度;抛砖引玉,一起争论。
方法:阅读时文时,要注意把握时文的.中心,往往出现在首段的末句,或者第二段的首句。
(四)独句段
特点:出现一个句子单独成段,往往出现在文章开头或者结尾,一般表达的是文章的中心思想。若位于文章中间部分一般是承上启下的作用。

特点:开端——承接论述——转折——从反面提供论据——结束全文。
方法:阅读时要抓住论点,区分论点和论据的关系,因为题目设计往往围绕论点进行,并要注意把握文章首尾的前后呼应关系。
(七)平铺直叙型
特点:事实和观点交叉出现,在字里行间达到阐明观点的目的。
方法:需要综合各段内容,通过分析和归纳判断。

特点:一篇文章的整体,或者几个段落论述的问题,由从抽象到具体,从初级到高级,从简单到复杂的过程,且各段从开始都出现递进词。
方法:阅读时注意把握这种文章的中心,或几段的核心。观点必然出现在层层递进各段的最后一段。

一、引言
轮机英语阅读是轮机专业的学生取得三管轮证书的必考科目之一。但由于高职类学生英语基础薄弱,听、说、读、写、译等基本技能及语言运用的综合水平不高,对背景知识如海船轮机知识、国际海上法规公约等专业知识的欠缺,等等这些因素影响了学生的考试成绩。据国家海事局统计,轮机英语是目前通过率最低的三管轮证书考试科目。因此,提高轮机英语成绩是教学的重中之重。英语总复习是教学过程中的一个重要阶段,它是平时教学的延伸和深化,对帮助学生系统巩固基础知识、培养学生运用英语进行交流的综合能力,帮助学生轻松自如应考,有着其他阶段不可替代的作用。在整个复习阶段,由于时间紧、任务重,要想在有限的时间内有效提高复习质量,教师要制订行之有效的复习策略,扎扎实实地为考试奠定坚实的基础,保证考试成绩的提高。笔者从事轮机英语教学工作九年,长期奋战在教学第一线,与学生朝夕相处,现积累出了一套轮机英语阅读课程复习策略,仅供参考,望批评指正。
二、轮机英语阅读课程复习策略
1.制订复习计划是前提。高职类院校在校生年龄18岁左右,学习自制力较本科高校学生相对较差,而且在平时授课过程中,由于受到教学进度的影响,学生没有足够的时间复习、巩固所学知识,导致学习盲点越积越多,这都需要在复习阶段重点解决。因此帮助学生制订有效的复习计划是至关重要的。(1)明确复习目的。教师以考纲为依据,在认真系统地钻研、整理英语教材知识的基础上,抓好每一课的复习要点,切实落实基础知识,突出教材知识网络体系,争取在稳拿基本分的基础上,在新题、关联题等方面多得分。复习的目的是为了巩固所学知识,将课本知识与题库考点有机结合,提高做题的正确率。我们的目标是:做过的题不出错,新型题不发慌,关联题需耐心。(2)确定复习策略。总复习时间一般为三个月共90天,现分为“五步走”策略。第一步,复习内容为大连海事大学出版社的轮机英语考证自学教材,共3366题,时间约40天,掌握轮机英语阅读考试的基本考点;第二步,复习材料为40-48期历年考试真题,时间约15天,通过做题检测第一阶段的复习成果;第三步,复习内容为大连海事大学出版社、中国海事服务中心组织编审的轮机英语阅读教材课后题,时间大约10天,查漏补缺;第四步,复习内容为上海海事大学郑学林专用轮机英语电子做题系统,时间大约15天;第五步,模拟测试及详解,时间大约10天。临近考试前1周,带领学生去无纸化考试中心做模拟题。
