作为一个英语教师应该尽可能地借助于现代教学技术、实物、游戏等来创设各种各样的情景给学生提供在课堂上运用语言的机会,最大限度地激发学生用英语进行听说的欲望,切实提高他们的情景对话的能力。江苏省现行的对口单招高考英语考纲中的交际功能共16项,包括问候与道别、引荐与介绍、感谢与道歉、预约与邀请、祝愿与祝贺、求助与提供帮助、赞同与反对、接受与拒绝、劝告与建议、投诉与责备、表扬与鼓励、指令与要求、禁止与警告、询问与提供信息、情感表达、讨价还价。情景对话课堂应该是给中职学生英语学习提供了一个活力舞台,作为台下指挥者的教师应努力掌握好手中的指挥棒,透彻钻研教法,让学生的英语口语学习更有效、更精彩。
一、活用情景
英语教师要善于充分运用现存的、真实的场景,诸如在学年初让学生的自我介绍、邀请学生参加自己的生日派对、学生生病未来上课打电话询问情况等情景。先让学生进行小组讨论,而后根据情景真实的信息,通过加工,精心组织,最后让他们在跃跃欲试中展示给全班同学。
二、看图说话
我们在第一册第六单元,有一段关问路的对话。那么教师可以在课前根据课文设计一个情景,在课前画成一幅画,从所在中学的位置到哪个大学或院的路线图,然后根据画面的路线上课时,要求学生以一问一答的形式进行问路对话,经过哪几条街或路,乘哪几路公共汽车,其中拐哪几个弯……这样学生很快便会掌握课文中的对话,巩固了所要学习的知识,同时也复习和巩固了一些常用的词汇及他们在语言中的运用。
另一种看图说话的做法是教师可以创作一组(通常四幅)带故事情节图片,并提供一些关键词,把学生分成小组,让每位组员发挥自己的想象说出几句话来描述这幅图,进而组成一个完整的故事。如第一位同学说:“Tom was on his wayto school.”接下来的一位同学描述:“He found a young manwho rode a motorbike knock down a granny.”……为了鼓励学生参与的积极性,教师可在学生展示后,评出优胜组给予一定的物质奖励。随着学生学习的进展,教师可以启发学生挖掘情境中具有教育意义的内容,并用简单的文字表达,逐步提高学生的英语表达能力。
三、游戏对话
教师在教授课本中基本交际用语的基础上,设定几组不同的情境,让学生分组选择情境,自编对话并在全班同学面前表演,再由教师和学生共同选出表现最出色的几组。如问候与介绍的交际情境,可设“把自己的长辈介绍给同学认识”和“把自己的男同事介绍给闺蜜认识”两种不同的情境,提示学生注意这两种情境的介绍方法存在差异;再如讨价还价的交际情境,列出不同的商品信息,看哪组同学的讨价还价生动、有效。
当然游戏的类型应该是丰富多样的,比如猜谜游戏,让两位同学组成一组,其中的一个同学用英语描述投影中的实物,另一名背对投影的同学猜出这个实物的名称,在游戏中培养学生用英语思考并表达的习惯。事实证明,这样的游戏对话课是充满笑声的,虽然创设的是虚拟的情境,但所有学生的注意力都被吸引到话题当中来了,只要有一组或是一两个幽默的同学得到了表扬和肯定,其他学生都有跃跃欲试的感觉,他们的日常交际用语的运用能力得到了极大的提高。
四、视频学习
语言是人们在长时间的实践中形成的认同符号,其运用"规则"可依。孩子学语言是个模仿的过程,“模仿”是学好英语的基础。二十一世纪是一个信息极度发达的时代,英语学习资源也是应有尽有,尤其是集图、文、声、像于一体的视频资料,可创造生动逼真的英语学习环境,激发学生学习英语的积极性和主动性,提高学习效率。教师可选择适合中职学生的英语学习视频有《走遍美国》、《HH English》、《Great videos》等。如《走遍美国》视频在每个真实情景的小片段后都设有一个“Focus in”环节,把这个片段里的主要交际用语用歌曲的形式专门展示,能给学生留下非常深刻的印象。当学完一个主题的情景对话后,可及时模仿,以在运用中达到有效记忆。当然也可以选择像《奥巴马在上海复旦大学的讲话》这样的时事英语视频,课时富余的情况下也可以播放著名的英文电影,如《Ice Age》、《Sound ofMusic》,为了让视频或影片中的对话得到更好的记忆,可以选择其中的精彩片段,请学生模仿并进行配音,让学生感受英语口语的魅力。
英语教学是教和学的结合,是教师的有效指导和学生的积极参与相互作用的过程。教师除了要明确教学目的,熟悉教学内容,掌握好教学方法之外,还要充分了解学生的思想状况,注重对学生学习积极性的培养,以最有效的方式提高学生的英语口语学习兴趣。
