一、主句和宾语从句之间时态的搭配

(1) 主句如用现在时或将来时, 宾语从句可根据需要选用任何时态。如:

He says that

(2) 主句如用一般过去时, 从句也需用过去时态。如:

He said

undefined

(3) 主句为一般过去, 但从句为表示客观事实, 普遍真理, 习惯动作时, 从句也只能用一般现在时。如:

1) The teacher said the earth goes around the sun。

2) He said the sun rises in the east.

3) His father said he gets up at six o'clock every morning.

4) He told me the light travels faster than the sound.

二、主句和状语从句之间的搭配

在由when、 before、after、until、as soon as等引导的时间状语从句和由“if”引导的条件状语从句中, 主句有下列条件时, 从句用一般现在时。如:

(1) 主句用一般将来时, 如:

I'll tell him as soon as he comes back.

We won't go there if it rains tomorrow.

(2) 主句含有情态动词时, 如:

You can catch the first bus if you get up early.

You may answer these questions when you understand your teacher.

(3) 主句为祈使句时, 如:

Go on until you reach the end。

Tell me about it when you know.

Wait for me if you get there first.

(4) 当主句含有want、hope时, 如:

I want to be a teacher when I grow up.

I hope to go with you if I am free.

注意:1.在由“since”引导的时间状语从句中, 主句用现在完成时, 从句用一般过去时。如: I have worked here since I came.

2.由when引导的时间状语从句, 主句用一般过去时或过去进行时, 从句用一般过去时, 反之从句用过去进行时, 主句用一般过去时。如:

It began to rain when I arrived at school.

We were working about a book when he came in.

When I was walking in the street, I saw an old friend of mine.

3.以when引导的从句, 主句用过去完成时或一般过去时, 从句用一般过去时或过去完成时。如:

The train had left when I got to the station.

He went to bed when l did (had done) my homework.

4.由after, before, as soon as, 引导的时间状语从句, 由于连词本身已说明了主从句动作的先后关系, 所以可以用一般过去时代替过去完成时, 如:

He (had) left before l got there.

I went home after I had done (did) my homework.

The film (had) began before I got to the station.

此外, 以because等引导的原因状语从句和主句的时态搭配没有固定的规律可循, 要根据主从句表达的时间关系来确定。如:

1) All of us can't go there because we are too busy. (主从句都用一般现在时)

2) His father didn't to work because he was ill that day. (主从句都用一般过去时)

3) I didn't watch TV last night because I was doing my homework. (主句用一般过去时, 从句用过去进行时)

4) I don't want to read the book because I have seen it before.我不想看这本书, 因为我以前读过, (主句一般过去时, 从句用现在完成时)

5) I didn't see the film yesterday because I had seen it before.昨天我没看那电影因为我以前看过。 (主句用一般过去时, 从句用过去完成时, 因为看电影在昨天之前, 即表示过去的过去。)
