(一)为什么会提出“大问题教学”?

记者:黄老师,近几年您提出的“大问题教学”风靡全国,我想具体跟您请教一番。请问黄老师为什么会提出“大问题教学”呢?

黄爱华:“大问题教学”主要是针对目前课堂上存在的问题而提出的。从听课观课中发现,小学数学课堂仍存在着这样一些问题:第一,大多数教师仍然把关注的重点放在教学技巧性上。数学教学中,教师普遍关注提问的指向性和精确性,我认为这是为了“牵引”而“问”。而真正有效的数学教学,应该是“为了不教”而“问”、“为了不问”而“问”的,显然这是有待我们努力的;第二,由于教师缺乏大格局信念,数学教师的着眼点更多局限在知识的分解上,呈现的问题依然是“花费较短时间的即时思考型问题”。但是,真正有价值的数学问题应该是集多元性与持续性为一体的问题,既能包揽所学知识点,又能引发学生思考、探究、拓展延伸。因此,我们需要去寻找这样的问题;第三,近年来全国上下都在倡导以学生为主体的“以学定教”、“先教后学”理念,但是在实践中,数学课堂教师的提问存在繁、杂、小、碎的现象依然没有改变,无法真正达到给予学生空间的目的;第四,“教”与“学”不相和谐,甚至严重脱离,一本教材、一支粉笔、一张嘴“一问到底”的现象依然普遍。因此,我们就想找到一种真正是以学为核心的教学,是关注学生的学习,强调给予学生大空间,呈现教育大格局的模式,于是就提出了“大问题教学”。

(二)那么“大问题”具体表示什么涵义呢?

黄爱华:

“大问题教学”中的“大问题”,指的是课堂的“课眼”,文本的“文眼”,是课堂教学的主线。“大问题教学”,就是指通过特定学生的心理特点、学习经验以及学习困惑点,采用一定的教学策略,对课程关系、问题引导、学习方式等多方面进行系统处理,以求能够最大程度突破教学中的主要矛盾的质量高、外延大、问域宽、数量精并且挑战性强的教学。“大问题”强调的是问题的“质”,有一定的开放性或自由度,能够给学生的独立思考与主动探究留下充分的探究空间。而“大问题教学”的最终目标,是通过数学课堂探索,使学生获得思考、表达、成就等多维度数学素养的全面发展。

举个例子吧,比如我在教的《圆的认识》中,是这样提大问题的:“圆形的下水井盖为什么不会掉下去?”这个问题其实来源于美国公司招聘员工时提出的一个问题“为什么人们总是习惯性地把下水道盖子做成圆形”的第一个答案:不会掉下去。这个大问题的提出,是为了抓住本节课直指本质的核心—“不会掉下去,是因为被一些线段卡住了”,这些线段就是直径。而直径,恰恰就是本节课的教学重难点处,有了直径的认识,就可以继续认识半径和圆心。课堂上学生为了解决这个疑问,会不停摆弄学具,找原因,自己探索和发现直径,重建知识形成的过程。

我们所说的“大问题”,具有以下几个特点:第一,能触及数学的本质。这个本质不仅仅指的是数学知识或技能的关键,而且还指基本活动经验和数学思想方法;第二,它必须有一定的难度,但是又要在学生最近发展区之内,是学生跳一跳就能摘到的“果实”;第三,“大问题”的结果不唯一,思维方式多元;第四,“大问题”还必须是有繁殖力的,能引发学生不断提出新的问题;第五,“大问题”一般源于学生提出的“雏形问题”。

所以,我们提的大问题,是关注学生的差异发展,指向学生的问题意识,便于全面落实“四基”,能够改变传统课堂教学的逻辑结构,可以生成一种新的教学结构,更具有思维的开放性,更利于培养学生的数学思维和数学语言的新型课堂教学方法。

(三)大问题”对很多老师来说,是高大而又不可复制的。请问黄老师能不能跟我们说说备课时怎样提出“大问题”呢?黄爱华:

提“大问题”,我们基本上可以遵循三个W原则,即what(什么)、where(哪里)、why(为什么)来思考。首先,我们要抓住大问题的意义,“大问题教学”总是针对一节课或者一个环节的核心发问的,所以我们必须清晰明确所教内容的课程地位、核心重难点是什么。这样提出来的问题才能达到“直指本质、涵盖教学重难点、具有高水平的、以探究为主的问题”;其次,我们要思考在哪个位置产生“大问题”更合理。因为有时候“大问题”的“大”是相对的,一节课、一个单元、一个学段都有“大问题”,它不是指范围的大小,而是指一种基于学生认知水平的适度的“大”,是“重要问题”“核心问题”“关键问题”意义上的“大”。教师只有仔细研读文本、厘清教材体系、思考清楚数学知识的前因后果,才能准确确定“大问题”的位置;最后,我们要明确为什么所确定的核心处是有价值的,它的价值究竟何在?思考清楚这个问题,能帮助我们恰到好处地设计“大问题教学”的环节与活动。真正做到在研读文本、了解学生的基础上,巧妙创设问题情境,提出“大问题”。

(四)大问题”设计好后,在课程教学上又应该怎么操作呢?黄老师能不能给我们一些指导?

黄爱华:

我们的“大问题教学”有“数学课堂教学六步骤”,大家可以以此为参考,把握“大问题教学”的基本教学结构形态:

第一,建立关系(建立教师与学生、学生与新学知识之间的关系);

第二,提出问题(多种方式下,师生共同提出并整理出大问题,整体呈现);

第三,尝试探究(学生依据已有的知识经验和课本内容自主或合作学习);

第四,展示分享(充分利用黑板、实物展台、墙壁或其他空间展示学生的研究成果,在学生积极主动参与下分享,教师适时追问,引发深层次的对话和碰撞);

第五,共同概括(师生围绕“大问题”及“大问题”的解决过程,共同参与梳理和提炼,得出结论。并再次提出并解决问题);

第六,问题延伸(通过学生与学生、学生与教师之间共同设疑解答等多种形式,对知识进行巩固、深化和延伸)

比如,我在上《三角形的认识》一课时,会在课前跟学生聊一聊关于我,关于他们,关于生活等一些“接地气”的话题,放松他们紧张的气氛,给予他们心理安全。与学生建立关系后,我就让学生自学课本,并尝试画了一个三角形。然后,依次引导学生思考、讨论三个问题:

1.你画的三角形和别人画的三角形一样吗?如果不一样,哪些地方不一样?如果一样,什么地方一样?

2.每一个角都只有一个顶点。强调了三个角,为什么还要单独强调三角形有三个顶点?三角形的特征能不能不写三个顶点?

3.“三角形”这个名称强调的是角,为什么定义三角形时,是用它的边长来定义的呢?

在学生进行充分讨论后,展示分享时就彰显出了思维的深度--“你画的三角形和别人画的三角形一样吗?”刚开始,所有的学生都信誓旦旦地认定自己画的三角形和别人画的不一样!“那有没有地方一样呢?”教师反向引导。慢慢地,慢慢地……有学生顿悟无论是哪一个同学画的三角形,无论所画的三角形的大小、形状相差多大,但这些三角形始终有一些共同的东西,比如所有的三角形都有三条边,都有三个角,都有三个顶点……移形换位中,三角形的特征呼之即出!

三角形有三条边,三个角,三个顶点。每一个角有并且都只有一个顶点。那么强调了三个角,实质也就强调了三角形有三个顶点。既然如此,三角形的特征能不能不写三个顶点呢?在看似无问题处提问题,在无声处起惊雷!惊诧中,学生跳一跳摘到了果子,总结提升了三角形的含义,感悟到“三角形有三个角”这一特征虽然确实包含了“三角形有三个顶点”的特征,但“三角形有三个顶点”这一特征不能省略。这是出于知识体系的需要。有了这些铺垫,就犹如会下金蛋的母鸡,源源不断地生发出更多对三角形知识的探究。

这在也从一个侧面让我们看到了走出当前数学课堂吃力不讨好局面的途径:即创设大问题,提炼大环节,构建大空间,让学生在自主的学习中形成基于自己理解的、开放、多元的去探索未知的学习意识。

(五)谢谢!下面能不能请黄老师给我们总结一下“大问题教学”有哪些经典的思想,以便更多的老师能把握其精华? 黄爱华:

我认为,“大问题教学”主要有以下五个经典特征:

第一,“大问题教学”以“学”为核心。在大问题的课堂中,只有定位于“教会学生学习”的教学才 是有效的教学。因此,必须在教学环节教学设计中体现学生学习能力的提高,而不仅是知识的贯彻。学会学习,最终是达到“不教之教”的境界,真正做到,让学生主动处于乐学和紧张的智力状态;教师需要做到只在内容的深处、难处、转折处和争议处有智慧地激发、鼓励和引领;另外,还要尊重学生的个体差异,使“学”走在“教”的前头,不同的学生应该得到不同的帮助、点化及提升。

第二,“大问题教学”置顶价值观。中国基础课程提出了知识、技能、价值观三维目标,传统逻辑上一般都是先达成知识与技能目标,课堂就算是有效的了。但是大问题教学不仅重视价值观的达成,而且还置顶价值观,即在课堂教学中要充分还原数学的好奇心、求知欲,经常需要“裸看”知识发生的起点,重新经历知识形成的过程;还重视在数学活动中磨练意志、建立信心,正向表达和良性激励远大于简单指责。最后,关于数学学科,还要想办法让学生感受数学的严谨性和结论的确定性。严谨、逻辑、简洁等数学美是依赖于数学课堂的系统培养的。

第三,“大问题教学”是“飞翔者”的教学。英国的课堂,让学生有一种自我设定的角色,分四个层次。最困难的学生叫做追赶者;再上升一层叫做跟随者;再上位,中上水平的学生叫做奔跑者;顶尖的学生叫做飞翔者。对于学生个体的学习而言,是具有差异性的。有的属于高端学习,有的属于低端学习。低端学习就是所谓的跟随者的学习,是“我教你学”的学习方式,其学习目标更多的只是为了跟随教师的进度。这样的学习也可以称作是复制型的学习。而“大问题教学”的目标是达到飞翔者的学习,其重要标志就是它直指学科本质,直指教育中人际关系的本质。其教学追求的是智慧型的学习,因而在这样的课堂里就需要更多的合作探究、自主生成,它的核心是针对人的发展。在这种课堂上,学生有自主规划、自由想象、自我探寻的权利,我们把这种学习称为“飞翔者”的学习。

第四,“大问题教学”是“教师在后”的。“大问题”下的教学形态是从高到低来教学的。比如,教师让学生直接面对文本,让学生自己去读一读,然后说出我读懂了什么,再让学生复述这篇课文到底说的是什么意思;比如,教师给学生足够的空间和时间去思考问题,然后作为小老师到黑板上来讲演,还有一系列的培训小老师的方法。在“大问题教学”的课堂里,教师往往是站在学生后面的。如果教师一直站在学生前面,教师的高度就成了学生难以逾越的高度。教师站在后面,他更多起的是一种鼓励、支持和保障作用。

第五,“大问题教学”是“再创造”的教学。我们既有的课堂经常都是单一的、线性的,蕴含着一种科学主义的逻辑在里面,但人性的复杂性、世界的复杂性、事物本身的复杂性,是我们难以预设的。因而,课堂本质上就应该是生成性的。课堂更重要的是要训练学生形成一种自我解读文本的能力,按照数学教育家弗赖登塔尔的观点就是“再创造”。“再创造”,意味着同一个文本在不同的读者那里所呈现出来的样子都可能是不一样的。学生只有通过文本,才能从个体经验出发对知识进行“再创造”。“大问题教学”就是要颠覆传统教学中的线性科学逻辑,在具体的生成性中体现知识的“再创造”,只有通过学生自己“再创造”的知识,学习才真正发生了。“再创造”之后的智慧,正是形成新智慧的创造之源。大问题下的课堂,就像一只会生金蛋的母鸡,不断地创造出新的问题。源于问题,止于问题。
